why does this site exist?
I've had the good fortune to run into incredibly diverse groups of professionals and academics during my career. I've watched every business unit, every background, and every industry I've been in contact with approach extremely similar problems in wildly different ways.
People want hard numbers. They want facts to drive decisions. They think they want data, but they need to be able to perform, buy, or steal analysis.
The issue is that Statistics, Econometrics, Game Theory, and Scientific Programming are no joke. These are serious endeavors that require years of interest and experience to apply. To compound the problem, taking the results from this work and operationalizing them in a real business environment requires a profound understanding of the math, the systems that need to be built, and the corporate structure you're dealing with.
I created this site so I could share what I have been able to contribute and what I am continuing to learn about what works in bringing analytics to the business world.
There will be absolutely no bullshit.
If you've ever thought "Big Data" is slowing down your Excel, this may not be the site for you. It will have no fads, no buzzwords, no clickbait, and no nonsense. I'm doing this for people who need to generate results, change corporate cultures, and bring solutions to life.
This is my career and my passion - I know there are others out there who are trying to bring quantitative answers to the table as well. If you can use my ideas, take them. Any code or slide decks I publish here are free to the world - no credit asked.
If you have suggestions, I invite them.
All the Best,
Chris Waldeck
